Todd M. Reed

Todd M. Reed is a Sandpoint family law attorney with more than 30 years of experience representing individuals and families throughout Bonner, Boundary, and Kootenai Counties. His practice focuses primarily on family law and litigation, including divorce, legal separation, custody disputes, child support enforcement, guardianship, adoption, and estate-related conflicts. He is particularly experienced in high-conflict and complex family law matters.

A lifelong Idahoan, Todd grew up in Notus, Idaho and worked on a farm before earning his B.A. from Boise State University in 1989 and his J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1993. He was admitted to the Idaho State Bar and Idaho Federal Court in 1993 and later to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 2001.

Early in his career, Todd served as a Deputy Prosecutor in Bonner and Boundary Counties, where he handled complex, high-stakes criminal matters. He served in that role for approximately eight years. That courtroom foundation continues to inform his strategic and seasoned approach to complex family law litigation.

Clients often seek Todd’s counsel during significant life transitions, including dissolution of marriage, disputes over parental rights, and division of marital assets.
He is known for being experienced, confident, and compassionate, and for his ability to work productively with other attorneys to resolve matters when possible while remaining fully prepared to litigate when necessary.

Having lived in Sandpoint for more than 30 years, Todd has built his practice on long-standing relationships and a deep understanding of the North Idaho community. Much of his work comes through referrals from former clients and other professionals, reflecting the trust he has earned throughout Bonner, Boundary, and Kootenai Counties.

Outside the office, Todd enjoys gardening, traveling, and spending time with his wife and four adult children.
